Couples

Why do people come for couple counselling?

It can be difficult maintaining a healthy relationship at the best of times, but add additional pressures such as money, work and life changes and it is no wonder that relationships sometimes struggle.

Counselling offers couples a neutral space where they can talk through difficulties and conflicts. With the help of a counsellor they can explore the events, behaviour and patterns within the relationship and look at ways of moving forward.

Our role as counsellors is not about judging who is right or wrong and telling you what to do or say. Our role is about helping you increase your understanding of both yourselves and your relationship so that you can make the decision that is right for you. This decision may involve how to continue as a couple, but it may also be about working towards the best possible separation. Using counselling to develop a workable post-separation relationship can be of particular importance to parents.

Who comes for couple counselling?

Any couple who is concerned about their relationship. We work with couples who are married, in civil partnerships, living separately or together.

How much does it cost?

As with individual counselling we suggest that you come along for an initial free-of-charge session to get a feel for whether counselling and The Living Room is right for you. If you decide to continue then each session lasts one hour and costs £50.

What times do you work?

We offer both daytime and evening appointments with our last appointment around 7.30pm. We also work some Saturday mornings.
